Love Letters!

Hello! I guess it's Magnolia Monday! However, I posted this card yesterday on Splitcoast Stampers for the Featured Stamper challenge. I think it could be a Valentine, but wouldn't have to be!

I got to go to Buffalo for breakfast and shopping with my friend Lisa Kind, yesterday! Of course we went to our LSS, Buffalo Stamps and Stuff! I used some new paper that I got for my card. It's made by My Mind's Eye, So Sophie collection. It is a terrific red that has an orange tone to it! I didn't even try to match it with a red card stock! I went for Soft Suede (SU) and Linen (PTI) with a little chocolate brown for good measure! The panel behind Tilda is from the reverse side of the flowered paper.

Tilda is colored with my copics and then a second piece with ther arms, envelopes and skirt was added to the top with dimensional glue. That's why there's a shadow over her socks!

Copics used:
Eooo, Eoo, R30 and R11 skin
E53, E31, E35 and E25 hair
E43 and R20 with blender for envelopes
YR02, YR05, YR02, YR05, YR08 and R17 for dress.
Even though Diana is busy with CHA stuff, Jacque still has the Sunday Sensations all ready for another giveaway of 25.00!! Just add your name to Jacque's list before midnight Tues. It could be your lucky week!
There's also a new Magnolia-licious monthly challenge and a Copic Creations challenge ready to go! Details on Feb. 1st!
Thanks so very much for visiting! Wishing you an excellent day!!

Happy Birthday!

Hi friends! I have a card today using an image from I Brake for Stamps! I used the Large Flower Sprig as my focal image. It's sooo pretty! I stamped it on a smooth cream paper (from SU, I think!) and colored it with my copic markers. I used BG10 and a little BG72. For the leaves I used G40. 82 and 24. The little flowers are R11 and R22.
I'm so sorry for the poor lighting and photo quality- Someday I'll get my light tent together! The card base is cream, the embossed layer is Sahara Sand, then Baja Breeze, then the image. Really a pretty quick card for me! (But somewhat elegant, I hope!)

And, a close up, as I was STILL trying to get a decent shot!
Thanks for dropping by!

Friendship Warms the Heart!

It sure does! thanks for visiting today! I want to show you an easel card that I finished on Sunday! It features the MINI of #3071 SNOWY HUG from Magnolia-licious! I colored it exactly like the tag card in the post below, but instead of using tonal colors I went with complimentary colors! I just love the aqua and peach together! Normally I use a lot of blue and orange during the fall, but I never have on a winter card! I like it!
The framed effect is another thing I learned from the recent features on DT blogs to reveal the newest Spellbinders dies. This idea came from Linda Duke and HERE is the link to her post! Such a great effect for a small amount of effort!

I'm so glad I had planned to use 'messy' stitching on the card because my machine acted up and it certainly got messy!

A close up of the image and frame! Here's the link to the large image. I don't see the mini right now, but I'm sure that it's on reorder!
This image took me about 15 minutes to color, but the larger Tildas take me longer! If I don't count all the time deciding on colors (a considerable amount of time!) I guess a large image probably takes me about 30 minutes. I tend to color several images and then look for a layout
to use. Hope this helps, Nancy!
Thanks so much for visiting today! Enjoy your Tuesday!

Tag Card-Inside and Out!

Hello! A quick post today with the inside of the Tag Card I posted the other day! I used more patterns in the Making Memories Together line for the inside panels. The dotted one matches the front as you can see below! I {{love}} the plaid pattern! It was the original inspiration for my main image on the front! Here's the original post for the Inspiration and links to make a tag card!
Here's a reminder of what the front looks like. You kind of bend the top back a bit to release the front and it opens down.
I found my paper with the colors. They are:
BG10 and BG72. E000, E11, E00 and R30
R30, R21, R22 cheeks and snowman nose
Y21, YR21, YR24, E99 broom
YG91, 93 and 95
E42, E31, E35, E25 and E29
Please remember to enter your name over at Jacque's Joie de Vivre for the Sunday Sensations Prize!! This week it's 25.00 for two in stock stamps ~one Edwin and one Tilda! AND rumor has it that the new collection is in stock and selling like crazy!! You have until Tuesday at midnight to enter your name on Jacques' blog! There are lots of new MINIs in stock too!
Tomorrow I will have an easel card made with one of the minis that is very familiar to you! Please return if you can!
Thanks for visiting today!
Nancy asked me a question about coloring and I will get that answered too!

Things I Love!

I had this card done yesterday and ready to post, but it was not to be! So here's my list of Things I Love:
Saturday mornings that give me time to finish a card! Basic Grey Curio paper! Paper roses that I learned to make from a simple circle! Magnolia images-Large and mini!! Dancing-Not so much! And, of course, most importantly my DH, Dave!
I think this will be his valentine this year! (For the inside, how does. "You make me feel like dancing?" sound?
The image is #3073 MINI Tilda and Edwin dancing. It doesn't seem to be in stock so I've linked the larger one. The roses are from a card made to show the new Spellbinders dies. I'll have to look again for the link. Link now connected below!! The layout is loosely based on a recent Mojo Monday sketch.

Close up of my roses! The whole card is 4.5 x 5.5", by the way. Kim Crawford showed me how to make the Rose HERE! Scroll down and you'll come to it!

My colored image, but I'm so sorry, I forgot to keep the colors. I've had it colored for a while to go with Cosmo paper. When I chose this paper I just added some R59 to get a deeper toned red! I love that about copics!
Thanks for coming by! I love that you did! Happy Sunday to you!

It's Your Day!

Hi! Happy Friday! Yeah!! For my floral card I used the Small Pincushion flower from I Brake for Stamps. Now I did no research so I have no idea what color Pincushion flowers are! I decided I was going to color them orange from the start and then look for papers. The coloring went well on all three and I am happy with them.
I just couldn't decide on paper. I thought they would look good on a CAS card background by when they were laying on this Basic Grey (Curio) paper that I had out for something else I decided to go with it!
The die is made by Sizzix and mine came from Stampin Up.
I guess that's about it for today except to say that if you order from I Brake for Stamps, I hope you'll take advantage of my code SAVE10CHERYL for a 10% discount!
Thanks so much for coming by today!
Working on a Mini World Magnolia for tomorrow! Ya'll come back now!

Copic used:

Snowy Hug Tag card

Hi friends! I know, I know everyone is working on valentines, but can you believe I had stamped this image and not colored it?! True! I HAD to use it on a card~I think it's my favorite image! (#3071 SNOWY HUG)

Then I had to use my favorite winter (and summer!) color~aqua! I better get to some links before going further! The amazing, wonderful Claudia Rosa made a tag card that was my inspiration. She was in turn inspired by this crafter Tiets, Sugar Bowl. I wanted to make my card fit into an A2 envelope so I started with card stock that measured 10" x 4" and scored it at 4.5". Then cut the corners on the back at an angle to make the back of the card. There is a nestability oval tucked under the plaid paper to hold the card close. To open, you just lift the edge with the short strings.

My plan to fit in an A2 envelope fell apart when I decided to add the wide grosgrain ribbon to the top! I didn't have room on the card front for ribbon or flowers (since my card is smaller) so I wanted a fancier top! I used my craft knife to cut a slot and put the ribbon through. It's tied with a little piece of string and the bow is separate and adhered with Scor-tape. Please see Claudia's photos for how it opens! I still have to decorate the inside of mine!

I think I'll have to make one of these with a mini image!!
Thanks for coming by today! The weekend is almost here!! Yeah! Have a terrific ThursdaY!
Hugs, Cheryl

Crystal Cold Snowflake!

Hello and THANK YOU so much for all the nice comments on the August calendar page! You're so kind!

Here is another of the images in the I Brake for Stamps Holiday Squares set.
I just love this snowflake and don't think it has to be just for holiday cards! I used only BG10, BG72 and BG78 to color it.
Then I used Stardust Stickles around the snowflake and Glitter Glass on the snowflake image. This snowflake has got sparkle to spare!
I decided on black as my accent color so the rest of the card came together speedy quick! If you order from IBFS please use the code SAVE10CHERYL for 10% off your order!

Thanks for swinging by today! Hope you know how grateful I am! Soooo grateful!

Diana's Calendar Blog Hop!

Hello and Happy Monday!! I have the day off but am typing this on Sunday afternoon. You see, I'm already excited about tomorrow! If you have arrived from Mindy's blog where you were treated to photos of her calendar page for June and July you are in the right spot now! If not, the hop started with Sharon Caudle's beautiful pages for January and September!

I chose August as my calendar page for Diana! It is the month of my birthday and HERS!! Diana is blond so that's the color hair I gave my Tilda! I used three Magnolia images and the vintage tag die, which has become a favorite of mine! (Tilda is #245, the sentiment is #703, I'm unable to find the bench and background for the number, sorry)

Now, off you go to sweet Barb's Blog to see what she created for her October calendar page for Diana!
We haven't seen each others' pages, except for Angie who made the calendar so I am really excited to travel the blog hop as well!
Thanks for visiting! Hope you can return soon and have a great day!

Tag-you're it!

Hi! I'm feeling a little guilty for not getting more posted this week so I'll show you some pics of some of the tags I recently sent to Diana as samples for CHA~
The minis are really fun to work with! I did stamp the cuties on xpress blending card because it is my favorite for coloring. But, I anted the tags to have more structure so the images were cut out and glued onto tags cut from the card stock with the flecks of brown in it. (don't know if I used PTI or Su, but you get the idea!
Then I added shadow around the image with the toner grays in T1 and T3 for more dimension.
I didn't keep track of the colors, so I hope you'll forgive me!
I have so many more of the Minis that I want to get stamped and colored!!
You can get them all at Magnolia-licious AND while you're there you can preorder the You're So Special new collection! OMGoodness! I want them all!!
Hoping to get more done this weekend AND we have Monday off from work! Yeah!!
Also wishing a great day and weekend for YOU!!
(Tomorrow is the 15th and that makes it time for the firs Copic Creations Challenge of 2011~ come on back! (please!)

Japanese Tilda VASE!!

Hello! Like many places we celebrate stafff birthdays at work. I have a treat to take tomorrow for one such birthday. I decided when we were in Wegman's on Saturday to get a tablecloth, plates and napkins to dress up the table. I didn't want to spend a fortune so bought a plain burgundy table cloth and plates but found some pretty Oriental floral napkins to go with them. I decided I could make a matching centerpiece! I colored up Japanese Tilda and placed her on one of the panels of the box I made from a pattern designed by my friend, Tracy (Inkydoodles). It holds an 8 ounce canning jar .

What you see is the result and I'm so pleased with it! I think the card stock is Rose Red (embossed with a CB folder). Then there is a layer of Blushing Bride on my Kraft box. I trimmed the edge with a pink border punch edge.

I went to the attic and dug out some cherry blossom stems that I put out in the spring. Not this year, 'cuz I cut off branches to stick in my vase! These pics show what the whole centerpiece looks like! Not bad for a little inspiration and a small amount of work!

One more pic, GOSH, she is CUTE!!

I'm doing this post Monday evening so I can get my treat ready in the morning! Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Thanks so much for all your visits! Please remember to enter your name (link) for the Sunday Sensations over at Jacque's Blog! You have until midnight Tuesday to do so for Magnolia-licious Money!

Wishing You a Happy Brithday

I don't need a birthday card right now, but they tend to sneak up on me! Yesterday, I made this card for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast. No coloring, wow!! The featured stamper (UKJem) has many handmade flowers on her cards to I made one~ It's made with EK Success Retro flower punches.
I colored the stamp with Marvy Markers that are almost dry!! But, they worked after I breathed on the stamp!
The shape is one of the Mat Stack dies from Papertrey as is the embossing template. The sentiment is PTI and the stamp is from Close as a Memory (SU) The leaves are one of the dies in a set of two from Magnolia-licious.
Guess that's it for this card! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you're not too disappointed that there is no coloring today!
There will be tomorrow!
Stampin' hugs and wishes for a good day for you!

Happy Holiday!

Okay, I'm sorry, I know the holidays are yesterday's news, but (and I've always wanted to say this!) I'm working on projects for CHA!! Yep, me~ Pinch me!
I'M not going, but my projects are! Diana asked the DT to make some things for her display! My package goes out to her today!
In the mean time, may I show you a card I made for my friend, Lisa Kind.
She's an awesome stamper, member of several design teams and, YES, she is very kind! She is also an animal lover and I knew she would like this Snowman and his dog buddy!
I colored the image with copics, and used some Basic Grey paper (from Curio, which I loooove!) for my color scheme. The Snowflakes embossing folder was used on the card base on PTI's linen.
I used more dp to stamp the sentiment on.

I'd better be going for now! Will try to have a card for tomorrow!
Wishing you a Super Saturday!!
Thanks so much for visiting!

Baby, it's Cold Outside!

Hi friends! Over the holdays we had a break in our wintry weather and as I write this we having a return of winter! I actually like fresh snow to cover up the old, dirty snow! I bought this sentiment at my LSS to use with the Little Mittens from I Brake for Stamps. Aren't they cute?! And only 3.00! Feel free to use my code SAVE10CHERYL to get 10% off your entire order!
I chose my paper and laid it next to my copic chart and picked markers to match. The mittens colored up very quickly. I stamped the sentiment on white and cut it with a Spellbinders tag, but it needed something. I cut a larger tag with slots on each end from eggplant card stock. Then I added the ribbon and pearls to the ends. A pretty quick card to make!

Thanks so much for stopping by to see what I've been up to! I appreciate each and every visit!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Oh, deer!

Hello! Well, it's back to work Monday for me and all of us who work in school! Are we ready? YES, we are!! I really got to spend a lot of time creating over the break. I had this image colored and made it into a card yesterday when I saw the gallery of the Featured Stamper on SCS. Have I mentioned that it's my favorite challenge!? It is! The image is one I bought when the Stamp and Scrap Art tour was in Buffalo-it's from Art Gone Wild and is called Small standing Deer. I think you could find it in their store online too.
I colored the deer with copics, but didn't keep the colors. Of course, you can tell they are Es-probably E42 and 43, 25 and 29. The aqua around the image is some copic (BG10) and then the prismas gamsol technique that I don't use often enough!
I told you that you would be seeing more of this paper! I love, love, love it! It is called Merry January from We R Memory Keepers. It matches Baja Breeze, Not quite navy, River rock, Soft Suede, and from Papertrey-Linen.
The Doo hickey leaf die is from Magnolia and mine came from Diana Crick's Magnolia-licious Store.
It comes with a wonderful swirl die. I'm sorry, but I don't see it in stock right now, but there is another set of leaf dies on page 2 of the link above. If you want this one, please email Diana to find out when you can order it!
Well, must finish getting ready for work! Have a great day whatever you are up to!
Thanks for visiting and thanks to all my followers~former and NEW! I {{heart}} you!

Hold on to Each Other!

Hello and best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2011~ Dave and I saw the new year in quietly at home after a fabulous dinner at our favorite restaurant. And, since it's January 1st the Magnolia-licious team has a NEW CHALLENGE for you! It was my turn and I thought with all the cooking many of us have been doing that we should leave the kitchen for our craft rooms/studios and cook up a new card with a recipe! I'll apologize right now for the poor photos~I just can't seem to get a crisp shot of this! Anyway the recipe is like the countdown for the New Year! 4 flowers, 3 designer papers, 2 Magnolia images and 1 ribbon! There is some wiggle room for variations but that's the basic recipe for this month! Hope you like it! Details and great design inspiration is already posted on the Mag Highlites blog for you, including PRIZE information!! Thank you, Diana!!
I tried a lot of photos and finally just had to pick some and get going! I used My Mind's Eye papers from last years Valentine collection called Beloved. There are so many great patterns!

I can't find this stamp anywhere on Magnolia-licious! I know that Sharon Caudle used the same image so I'm hoping that (genius that she is) she knows! Will post when I find out! The sentiment came in one of the Sweden kits in 2009. I KNEW Sharon would track it down~this is image #304 BROTHER AND SISTER. Diana says it will be in stock in a few weeks!

I used a lot of colors so here is the list:
Eooo, Eoo, E11, R30
BG10, Bg72 and BG78
R30, R21, R24 and R29
Hair Y21, E99, E25 and E29
E42 and above browns on shoes.
Y21 for her sleeve. E42 for his sleeve.
I love that today's date is 1~1~11!! Hope you have a Number 1 kind of day!!
Hugs, Cheryl
